Description: This is a truly stunning and eye catching portrait of a woman wearing traditional Dominican Head Dress. The texture created from the layers of paint cannot be conveyed digitally. The transition from red on the left side of the painting to a mix of yellow and green is a stroke of genius. The artist experimented with not only the types and methods of applying paint but also the medium upon which the masterpieces were lain. Hence, in addition to traditional canvas, carboard, wood, paper and other materials were used. In this case cardboard is the medium. This gave the benefit of a more sturdy structure which could more easily accommodate many layers.
