Description: A truely unique piece painted on wood and incorporating actual fabric for the skirt, head dress and frills of the sleeve. The motion of the belle dancer almost leaps off the painting and seems to get more animated to longer you stare at it. The rich colours compliment the piece and adds to the energy. Earl experimented with not only the types and methods of applying paint but also the medium upon which the masterpieces were lain. Hence, in addition to traditional canvas, carboard, wood, paper and other materials were used. In this case wood is the medium. This gave the benefit of a more sturdy structure which could more easily accommodate many layers of pain and fabric.
